Inadequate job description.Inadequate job description. Get together with people in the department and discuss the new opening. Get it on paper and in considerable detail. And when you show it to the candidates, don't sugarcoat the job. You can fool someone into accepting a dull or closed-end position, but you can't fool the person into liking it and performing well. Make sure the job description includes (a) the kind of background you need; (b) the personality characteristics you need; (c) the hours and other demands you'll make on this person. |
